To minimize detection by enemy searchlights, all Manchesters utilized for operational purposes were adorned with a standard matte black finish on their lower surfaces. Additionally, the upper portions of the aircraft were painted in camouflage colors to help them blend in with the surrounding terrain when viewed from above.
