Avro utilized one of the few contemporary power-operated turrets in existence when instructed to remove the ventral turret and substitute it with a dorsal turret in the mid-upper location. The F.N.7, which was already being used on the Blackburn Botha, was adapted for use on the Manchester in a reduced, more aerodynamic configuration.
