Kliment Voroshilov KV-1, KW-1, КВ-1 russian heavy tank. The KV series were known for their extremely heavy armour protection during the early part of World War II (90 mm front armour). Tank was named KV after Kliment Voroshilov (Defence Commissar), friend of Stalin.
KV-1 model 1939 – first model, armed with the 76 mm L-11 tank gun.
KV-1 model 1940 (KV-1A) – was the improved model with the F-32 76,2 mm gun and a new mantlet.
KV-1 model 1941 (KV-1B) – up-armored (25 – 35 mm) model armed with the F-34 gun (later ZiS-5 76.2 mm gun).
