Experimental L-39 for US Navy

Experimental L-39 with swept wings 1945/46

In an effort to research supersonic flight problems, a single P-63 was modified experimentally by the Bell Corporation in collaboration with the U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, resulting in the L-39 designation. Although the L-39 was not intended to achieve supersonic speeds, it was designed to provide important flight data for future aircraft designs.
