In early 1945, several of the Spitfire PR XIs from the 14th PRS made a transition from their PRU Blue camouflage scheme to a natural metal finish. During this period, all the aircraft in the squadron were distinguished by an Olive Green rudder, and they also featured the red identification bar of the 7th PG(R) on the engine cowling. PA892 served with the 14th PRS for a duration of 15 months before being returned to the RAF on April 3, 1945.
