Manchester's FN20 turret

Prototype Manchester L7247 fitted with the final central fin configuration, 1940

Equipped with four Browning machine guns, the rear gunner was an indispensable member of the crew, primarily due to the tendency of night-fighters to launch attacks from the below and behind. In the event of an attack, the rear gunner would alert the pilot and issue evasive directives as necessary.
