Bristol Buckmaster TJ714

Bristol Buckmaster

Advanced trainer aircraft Bristol Buckmaster at Filton in late October 1944

In 1945, the prototype of the Centaurus-engined Buckmaster, TJ714, was seen on the Filton runway. The Buckmaster was essentially a trainer version of the type 164 Buckingham, with a front fuselage that was widened to allow for the seating of the pilot and co-pilot side-by-side, with the radio operator situated behind them. A total of two prototypes and 100 production Buckmasters were built, and some Buckinghams were converted to this model. They were primarily used as conversion trainers, in order to familiarize pilots with the Brigand and Buckingham aircraft.
