KV335 was one of the initial units from the first batch of Buckingham B.I medium bombers, which were powered by twin Centaurus engines, to be delivered to the RAF in 1944. However, by the time the Buckingham went into full production, after several alterations to official policy, the needs of the war had shifted, and the aircraft’s usefulness was diminished. As a result, many of these bombers were repurposed and converted into unarmed light courier transports, with the capacity to carry four passengers, in addition to a crew of three. These new models were designated as the Buckingham C.I. Overall, a total of 123 Buckingham aircraft were constructed, but after the war, many of them were decommissioned and scrapped, having only accumulated limited flight time.
