Beaufighter night-fighters equipped four 12th Air Force squadrons: 414th, 415th, 416th and 417th – from 1943, in North Africa and, later, in Sicily, Italy and France. This tropicalised and Al Mk IV radar equipped Mk VIF is typical of their equipment, which was retained until the arrival of the P-61 Black Widows in the Mediterranean months before Victory in Europe.
