Cruiser Mk II, A10 was british infantry tank.
A new type of fast tank was developed version of A9 construction. New tank has thickened armor. This was due to the need to adapt this type of tank also to cooperate with infantry units. In July 1937 was created a prototype with iron armor. As a result of trials maximum speed was increased and armor was thickened up to 30 mm. Another introduced was placement machine gun firing forward next to the driver’s seat. Tank A10 was externally similar to the tank A9 it has only additional armor riveted to the hull and turret. Hydraulic drive turret as in A9. Tanks A10 was considered to be unsuitable to work with the infantry units, because of that tank was reclassified as a “heavy cruiser”. In July 1938 100 tanks were ordered: 10 pieces were produced in Vickers plants , 45 by Birmingham Railway Carriage Co. , 45 by Metropolitan – Cammell. In September 1939, plants in Birmingham also produced a series of 75 tanks. Production was completed in September 1940. Orders for tanks A9 and A10 have been limited due to the introduction for the production of new high-speed tanks with Christie chassis and thickened armor.
