The company Faun emerged in 1919 from the vehicle factories Ansbach and the Nuremberg company Faun and called itself “Fahrzeugfabriken Ansbach und Nürnberg”, in short “FAUN”. From 1920 the name Faun Werke AG was used. Truck production began with 3 to 5-ton trucks, which were optionally available as electric vehicles. From 1926 Nuremberg was the sole production site of Faun. In the thirties, mainly Maybach engines were used. Municipal vehicles were already offered in the thirties and exported to many European countries.
