Conversion to Training Vehicles:
Conversion to Umbaufahrzeuge: The worn-out Krupptraktor chassis were later converted into training vehicles, known as Umbaufahrzeuge. This conversion was part of a contract awarded to Krupp-Grusonwerk by the Waffenamt (contract Wa J Rue WuG 6 Va, number 66919/36 Heer).
Schulfahrzeuge Production: Krupp-Grusonwerk was contracted to deliver La.S. May chassis specifically configured as training vehicles (Schulfahrzeuge). These chassis were similar to the Panzer I Ausf.B but lacked the superstructure and turret. Instead, they had railing for the crew and a thinner sheet metal rear deck over the engine compartment, rather than armored plating.
