Sd.Kfz. 263 (Gerat 95) was a heavy cross-country radio vehicle (“Funkspähwagen”) equipped with extra long-range radio equipment and an additional radio operator. Sdkfz 263 was based on the Sd.Kfz. 232 series.
Sdkfz 263 8-rad was developed from 1934 to 1938 alongside the Sd Kfz 231 and 232 vehicles. In place of the turret on the SdKfz 231 and 232, the SdKfz 263 had the superstructure sides extended higher to form a large crew compartment. Armament: 7.92 mm Maschinengewehr 34 machine gun. A large frame antenna and a telescoping mast antenna were provided for the long range radio set. Production : 240 cars (8-rad).
