The V3 prototype aircraft was quite similar to the production models. However, there were some modifications made to enhance its performance. The leading edge of the outer wings had a steeper taper, while the trailing edge had a gentler taper. The nose was elongated and streamlined, with a gun cupola installed on it. The pilot’s cockpit and the radio operator’s cockpit were connected by a continuous ‘greenhouse’ structure. The radio operator was given basic controls to ensure they could bring the plane back in case the pilot was unable to do so.
